What has not changed is the need to help fund breast cancer services for the uninsured and underinsured. Unfortunately\, breast cancer has not stopped during the pandemic\, and with so many unemployed and losing their health benefits\, the need for services is greater than ever. \nThis virtual fundraiser will include our founder\, Dr. Sally Knox\, and keynote speaker\, Janet St. James\, former WFAA Medical Reporter. You will also hear from a few others regarding the tremendous need for the services The Bridge Breast Network provides. \nSo put on the pinkest\, most glamorous outfit you have\, or put on your pajamas and bathrobe\, it doesn’t matter\, just join us for this informative\, hour-long\, virtual fundraiser. But what a great way to help raise much-needed funding for the life-saving services The Bridge Breast Network provides. \nGuest Speakers\nDr Sally Knox\, MD\, FACS\nDr Knox is a surgical oncologist specializing in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer. She practiced for 30 years at Baylor Scott & White downtown Dallas with a team of breast cancer specialists\, passionate about stamping out breast cancer. She started what is now the Bridge Breast Network over 25 years ago to assist women in the community who were under-insured to obtain breast services including mammograms\, diagnostic procedures\, surgical and oncologic care. She partnered with an initial group of ten remarkable breast cancer survivors who put feet to the idea and made the project come to life. Many thousands of lives have been touched by the Bridge Breast Network and the organization has served as a model for other communities. \nDr Knox stepped out of her surgical practice in 2016 to work with non-profit organizations with a broader scope than breast care alone. In 2017 she was privileged and humbled to play a role in Baylor Scott & White donating vital medical equipment for a maternity hospital inside Syria that saved the lives of both mothers and newborns. She continues to teach and travel. \nStephanie Johnson\nStephanie Johnson is a writer\, artist and photographer who works at The Skyline Agency in Dallas\, Texas. \nShe also lends her skills to various philanthropic initiatives and regularly speaks on breast cancer survivorship. She lives in Dallas with her husband and has two grown sons. \n \n \nJanet St. James\nJanet St. James goes by many titles: longtime broadcast journalist\, healthcare executive\, public speaker\, wife\, mother of 3\, and metastatic breast cancer patient. Janet worked as a television journalist for 25 years\, 18 of them at Dallas’ ABC affiliate WFAA-TV\, which she joined in 1996 as a General Assignments reporter\, covering a wide variety of stories from the Oklahoma City bombing to Hurricane Katrina. She covered the medical beat from 2000-2015 and was the first to break the news of a positive Ebola case in Dallas in 2014. \nJanet left WFAA in March of 2015 to pursue a new career as Assistant Vice President of Strategic Communications for Medical City Healthcare\, which includes 16 North Texas hospitals. In the week before starting that job\, she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. In November of 2018\, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer for which there is currently no cure. She regularly blogs about her cancer ordeal on social media\, hoping to educate and empower others about treatment and how a healthy attitude\, education and honesty can make a difference. Through the Bridge Breast Network you have the opportunity to join us in building a “Bridge of Hope” for uninsured and underinsured women facing the daunting world of breast cancer. \nTwenty-six years ago Dr. Sally Knox\, a Dallas breast surgeon\, and a group of breast cancer survivors formed a nonprofit called the Bridge Breast Network. Their goal was to bring quality health care to uninsured women with breast cancer living in North Texas. What started out as a professional courtesy became an innovative program that builds bridges of hope\, treatment\, and guidance\, and closes the ever-expanding gap in access to health care. \nThe Bridge Breast Network has built relationships with over 300 medical providers and 200 community partners.  We have touched the lives of more than 150\,000 North Texans in 28 counties through breast-health education and/or medical services\, but there is still more work to be done.  The Dallas-Fort Worth area ranks in the Top 5 cities nationally with the highest levels of mortality and late-stage diagnosis from breast cancer. \nOn September 29\, 2018\, at The Hall on Dragon in Dallas\, both old and new friends of the Bridge Breast Network will gather to raise funds to fight breast cancer. Our goal for this year’s event is to net $100\,000. To do this\, we need your help.  The Bridge Breast Network can provide $200\,000 worth of treatment for every $20\,000 donated. DESCRIPTION:The Femcees and Fashion Expo is a premiere event that is dedicated to highlighting Women that often go unnoticed. This is not just your average fashion show\, but a special occasion to honor women in music\, fashion\, health and beauty.  \nIn 2017\, an estimated 252\,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S.\, along with 63\,410 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. \nThis Year “Dare 2 Be Aware” as Promochics Presents the 2nd Annual Femcees and Fashion Show Expo on Sunday October 22nd at Lofty Spaces in Dallas\, Texas. This year we are educating and bringing awareness to these causes that directly affect Women right here in our own communities. Join us as we bring ladies together from all walks of life to ENCOURAGE\, EMPOWER and IMPACT lives through Music Beauty and Fashion and Art. Our models will include women that have experienced domestic violence or may be a breast cancer survivor\, either way\, we want to make them look and feel special by turning them into a runway model for the night. Each team will collaborate to come up with a set that brings the designers vision to life through music while the models rip the runway for a cause. \nThis year\, a portion of the proceeds will go to our partner The Bridge Breast Network. \nPurchase Tickets
